This gorgeous spicy cheese starter with the toasted bread is a great way to start off a dinner party. This is one of my absolute favourite cheese dishes because it’s not flavour combinations that you would put together and is a very controversial dish but once you try it all the flavours don’t each have there place when you are eating it they complement each other giving the cheese a lovely extra flavour that is a little sweet but a little spicy but it all gives the cheese al tot more depth and it makes it more interesting to eat.

You then have a crunchy french stick which you can either buy or you can make yourself. I will probably make it because i don’t ever often buy bread but buying it will give you the same outcome.

I have used the book How to bake by Paul Hollywood recipe to make the baguettes. Which you can check how to do make them on a separate recipe.

    Steps

    1
    Done

Preheat oven to 190c or 170c fan. Chop the pecans either using a food processor or just by using a chopping board and knife, once chopped place in a small bowl ready for later.

    2
    Done

Next finely chop the chilli and place in another separate bowl, add the jam to the chilli and combine the to together. Cut the camembert in half horizontally (like a Victoria sandwich.) Place one half of the camembert, cut-side up on a medium round stone.

    3
    Done

Spread half of the jam mixture onto bottom half of the camembert, top with half the chopped pecans. Place the remaining half of camembert on top, cut side down. Spread the rest of the jam mixture over the camembert and sprinkle with the remaining pecans.

    4
    Done

Using bread knife cut baguette on the diagonal into 5mm thick slices and arrange slices around the camembert, slightly overlapping. Lightly dab oil on each slice and place in the oven for about 12mins until the camembert begins to soften and bread turns golden. Let stand for 5mins before serving.

When i first tried this recipe it was at a Pampered Chef party and i was unsure of what it may taste like but as soon as i tried it i knew i just had to make it again. Definitely beats any cheese and crackers.
